Formed in 2000 the Spitfires originally played at Longhirst Hall.  In 2003 the club were invited to play home matches at the North's Premier Sporting Hotel, Riverdale Hall. The pitch and surrounding settings epitomise a typical postcard village cricket setting. Fortunes on the playing front have also changed since the early days, and in 2004 the Spitfires were promoted to Division One of the Northumberland Cricket League. See Spitfires 2005 Fixtures list

Riverdale Hall Hotel

Bellingham, Hexham,
Northumberland. NE48 2JT

Directions to Riverdale Hall below

The Riverdale Hall is situated in the heart of Northumberland, in the North Tyne valley.

From the south east, visitors should head towards the town of Hexham on the A69 which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle. Leave the A69 just east of Hexham, onto the A68 northbound. Follow the A68 for a distance of some 14 miles. About 1.25 miles after passing 'The Tone Inn' public house on the left, look out for a minor crossroad where the turning left is signposted to Redesmouth and Bellingham. Take this turning and follow the road for about 8 miles. At the next two road junctions, turn left at each, which will bring you past the village centre. Pass through Bellingham, and then look for a turning right, as the road bends left, signposted Kielder Water. Take this turning, and the Riverdale Hall Hotel is 100 yards along this road, on your left.
From the south west, travel east along the A69 until you come to the village of Greenhead. There, turn off left onto the B6318 Military Road, signposted Hadrian's Wall. Follow this road for aprox 16 miles, until, going down a long hill, you will come to a minor crossroads, signposted Wark and Bellingham to the left. Take this turning, and after 1.5 miles turn left onto the B6320. Pass through the village of Wark heading towards Bellingham. After 5 miles, at the bottom of a long hill, the road bends right, there is a turning to the left signposted Kielder and Kielder Water. Take this turning, and the Riverdale Hall Hotel is about 100 yards on the left hand side.

Travellers arriving from the North should travel south on the A68, across Carter Bar. Following the A68, about 3 miles past the junction with the A696, look out for the B6320 to Bellingham. Follow this into Bellingham and then out as described above.
